Cursor
The sharpest everyday coding editor, if you can live with the credit pool.
All three scored on the same six-criterion rubric, out of 100. Pricing checked October 1, 2026.

Cursor wins for everyday editing. It has the best tab completion, genuine model choice, and a billing model where most users never feel the meter, since Auto mode is unlimited. Buy it if you live in your editor and review your own diffs.
Windsurf wins for autonomous builds. Cascade plans and executes across files with automatic codebase indexing, so you delegate rather than drive. Buy it if you want to describe a task and come back to working code, but go in eyes open about the unpublished quotas.
GitHub Copilot wins for value and teams. At $10 a month it is half the price of the field, and Business at $19 a user brings IP indemnity and controls the others charge more for. Buy it if your work lives in GitHub and your priority is completions and review, not agent autonomy.
No tool here is a bad pick. The gap between first and third is six points, which is one billing model or one feature, not a class difference. Pick by workflow, not by headline score.

The sharpest everyday coding editor, if you can live with the credit pool.
The most autonomous agent of the three, with quota billing you need to understand first.
The cheapest full-featured assistant, and the only one GitHub-native teams should start with.
